DAY 2---AT SEA

 LAST EVENING

We had cocktails in the Mariner Lounge and chatted with a couple, Bonnie & Mark, whom we were in line with waiting to board.  They are from Scottsdale, AZ.  We'll be dining with them some evening.  At 6:30 we headed next door to Prime 7.  Shambo, the maitre'd, had a very nice window table in a quiet corner waiting for us.
Heru, long time friend, was our sommelier.  I had spoken with him in the afternoon and ordered this bottle of Rombauer chardonnay.  It is from the special wine list and costs $88 but worth it
I also had him bring a "R Collection" red blend wine for me.  It was one of the many "included" wines and he remembered which one I liked.  AMAZING!
                                                                         Our wines
Gusi was our waiter.  We have cruised with him many times also.
Ok, I know we are the only ones who do this.  I bring some Lawry's lemon pepper with us.  Then I have the waiter bring out a couple filets to the table before cooking.  I coat both sides of the filets with the lemon pepper.  Then they take them back and cook them.
I had the surf & turf (filet with a lobster tail).  The filet was perfectly medium rare just as we like it.  Rebecca just had the filet.  We shared a creamed spinach and I had a baked potato.
No dinner in Prime 7 is complete without Regent's famous, popcorn sundae.  We skipped the show and returned to the suite after dinner and I crashed in bed immediately.

TODAY (SUNDAY)

We hopped out of bed at 6:30 after a great night's sleep.  Smooth sailing last night.  Rebecca had ordered room service last night for a 7:30 delivery.  It was 20 minutes late arriving.  On Sunday's they have a champagne breakfast with caviar and eggs benedict both up in La Veranda and down in the main dining room, Compass Rose.  I went down to Compass Rose at 8am when they opened.
Mario was my waiter whom we have known since 2010.  He has worked on Regent ships (mainly this one) for over 26 years.  He did not want to pose for a photo so I got this one as he was serving another table.
This is Bernalyn whom we have sailed with before.  She has now been promoted from a waitress to a dining room supervisor.  She is a sweetheart and takes good care of us.  She will be leaving for vacation in a few days.
I showed Mario a photo of caviar that I took on the last cruise showing him that I wanted a huge serving.  I forgot to take a photo of what he brought me so I had to order a second one.  LOL
I just had a half order of the eggs benedict.
It's a lovely day.  Calm seas.
Our position at 10am is shown by the triangle just off the coast of Cuba.  We can see the coast of Cuba from our balcony.  It is 80F.
Odessa is our stewardess and Adifta is her assistant.  I told him I could not pronounce his name so I would just call him Rick Jr.  They got a kick out of that.
This is the front of our daily "Passages".  Today it is showing the ship's statistics.  It is also showing tonight's show will feature Linda Gentille.  We have seen many of her shows over the years.  She is now a friend of ours.  (Click on it to enlarge)
I ran into Dara this morning down in the Coffee Connection.  She is a waitress whom we have cruised with several times and now a friend of ours.  She has been promoted to Deputy Head Waiter now.  Well deserved promotion!
This morning we received this invitation to dine with Captain Abhi and the social host, Jonathan, this evening at 7:15 in Compass Rose.  Later this morning I ran into Captain Abhi and the General Manager, Lui, down in the Coffee Connection.  Unfortunately, it will be a table for 10.
This is tonight's menu in Compass Rose.
At noon we headed up to La Veranda (buffet) for lunch.  Of course Rebecca just has an Atkins bar for her lunch EVERY day.
I started with some anchovies and bleu cheese.  I know, sounds weird.
I then had a chicken cordon bleu and some bouillabaisse. Both were very good.
        Our Suite

Patio furniture too big for it.
Beautiful flower arrangement as part of our Diamond benefits.
I brought Jeff's Father's Day card to adorn our suite door along with our world cruises and grand cruises plaques.
Epicurean Enrichment
This is a new room addition from the big dry dock end of last year.  To me is seems a lot of wasted space.  Following are some photos of it.

As I said, a lot of rarely used space.
Coffee Connection
Next to it is the Coffee Connection so here are some photos of it.
I come here every morning to get a couple "Americano coffees" from the barista.

There are different lunch meats, cheeses, breads, and desserts also.
Horizon Lounge
This is the Horizon Lounge on the back of the ship.

This photo seems a good ending to today's post.  Captain Abhi said early tomorrow morning after passing south of Cuba and Haiti the winds will pick up from the port side and to expect rougher seas.
