LAST DAY OF THIS CRUISE

We were docked at Pier 88 on Manhattan by 12:15 so it was earlier than the planned 1pm. It is 77 degrees under mostly cloudy skies.
What a fantastic dock here at the Manhattan Terminal Berth 1 on pier 88. It is at the west end of 49th St. and 12th Ave. If you head across 49th St to 6th Ave, you are at Radio City Music Hall and Rockefeller Center. It's about a mile walk from the ship. We've been there and done that on other non-cruise visits to NYC. Central Park is equally close. The Intrepid Aircraft Carrier Museum is just next to us.
LAST EVENING
We decided to skip the Krew Kapers show and headed to the Mariner Lounge for cocktails at 5:45. The bar was packed with folks getting drinks to take into the theater for Krew Kapers. Denar was really busy until 6:00 when the show was to start.
They opened Compass Rose early at 6:20 to get ahead of the rush of people coming when the show would be over. We got our usual corner, window table with Mario. It is a very quite table. This is Faiz presenting the Rombauer chardonnay that I had ordered.
I also had some R Collection cabernet wine with my entree.
Rebecca had this shrimp cocktail.
I had this creamy Maine lobster risotto to start with.
We both really enjoyed the beef Wellington cooked medium rare. Big piece and I could not eat all of mine.
This pecan pie cheese cake is to die for. So yummy.
We finished dinner just after 8:00 and decided to skip seeing the show as did not want to sit around in the suite for hour and half waiting to go down. I hit the hay!!
TODAY
When we opened the curtains we found really smooth seas but overcast skies. It is 68 degrees outside this morning.
Up at 7am and I headed down to get our Americanos. I then started working on this blog post.
Rebecca had put her breakfast room service out last night for 7:30 delivery this morning. It had not been delivered so she called them at 8:00. Silly her, she forgot to mark the delivery time. They brought is right away after the call.
It's caviar and champagne Sunday so I hit Compass Rose for my large order of caviar and half order of eggs benedict. It's very cold in the ship this morning.
After Rebecca got back from her treadmill time and had cleaned up, we started packing.
Just before 11am we were approaching Verrazzano Bridge.
We passed under the bridge at 11:04.
This is the Staten Island Ferry. Rebecca said she rode on it when she lived here for 10 year. She was a brand new American Airlines stewardess back then. She lived in Manhattan for 4 years, Queens for 4 years, and Long Island for 2 years.
As we cruised up the Hudson River, Brooklyn was on our left side and Staten Island was on the right before we hit Manhattan on our right side and Jersey City on the left.
There is a cruise ship docked in Bayonne. Did not know there was a terminal over there.
Approaching The Statue of Liberty. First time I have seen her. We disembarked in NYC last September but our dock was in Brooklyn. We did not said up past Manhattan. This sail in was FANTASTIC with all the views of Manhattan.

We were outside on Deck 6. Most passengers were on Deck 12. This is where the crew got their photos with Lady Liberty.

Two photos of Lower Manhattan where the financial district is located. In the first you may be able to make out the Brooklyn Bridge in the distance.
The tall building is the World Trade Center. It is a 16 acre complex in Lower Manhattan, rebuilt after the 9/11 2001 attacks. It features the 1,776 foot tall One World Trade Center (tallest building in the Western Hemisphere) and is alongside the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, a mall, and multiple office buildings.

The tug boat pulled up next to us and another pilot hopped aboard. The tug stayed with us to aid in a difficult maneuver to get us docked later.
The tall building in this photo is Central Park Tower. Completed in 2020 is is a 1,550 foot tall residential and retail building.
Finished watching our sail in and docking at lunch at a window table up in La Veramda. Baically my usual to start with: shrimp, bleu cheese, mixed seafood, and anchovies.
A beef empanada, fried chicken, and roasted potatoes followed.
The Intrepid Museum is at the next dock to ours. What a great view of it!! The Intrepid is an aircraft that was launched in 1943 and served during WWII and the Vietnam War. It became a museum and opened in 1982. It is on 3 of the ships decks and features the Concorde SST and the space shuttle Enterprise. Also at the pier is the USS Growler, a diesel electric submarine.
We watched Captain Abhi squeezed our ship into the pier. Amazing job as it was tight fit.
We returned to our suite after lunch and this is our view from our balcony. View of the terminal.
We had done most of our packing this morning. After lunch we finished up one bag which weighed 45 pounds. Aircraft limit is 50. We will sit that bag out tonight for them to pick up and take ashore. The bag that was damaged and repaired here onboard, I will wheel it off myself to prevent damage before checking it tomorrow with American Airlines. Hope it survives our flight home. Will be getting some new luggage before our Alaska cruise end of August.
After adding more photos to the blog I went back up to deck 12 to take more photos. They are finally "bunkering" fuel. They went the whole 16 days without adding fuel. The ship will be going transatlantic on the cruise that leaves tomorrow evening.
The American Flag on one side of the upper structure and a red flag on the other side. The red flag denotes bunkering is occurring.
I took this to show the street running down town. It is 49th street (we are at 49th and 12nd Ave) if you take it to 6th Ave you will be at Radio City Music Hall and Rockefeller Center. We have a primo docking location on Manhattan.
The crew is constantly keeping the ship looking good.

This is tonight's Compass Rose menu. We call tonight, The Last Supper", on cruises. Planning a few Grey Goose martinis before meeting Susan Thatcher and Deborah Baker again for dinner in CR at 6:30. Susan and Deborah are the two Commodores (over 2000 nights on Regent) on board. We have cruised with them several times. No show tonight but there is a movie in the theater at 9pm. I plan to go up on deck and take some night photos of the ship and Manhattan. Be sure and check out them on tomorrow's post. It will be the last post of this cruise.
Big day tomorrow as we will be disembarking and flying home. We hope to be getting off the ship around 8am as we have our Blacklane limo scheduled to pick us up at 8:30. They say will be a 30 minute ride to the LGA airport. We have a 11:08 American Airlines flight to DFW arriving there just after 2pm.
As I said there will be another post tomorrow later in the afternoon or evening.
